Grapefruit Cranberry Lime

Good morning Juices,

I am so happy to be blogging again. It has been some time since my last post. My son and I were a little busy spending time with my husband who was on vacation. While spending time with my favorite boys, I disconnect myself from everything. Today I am back and ready to share my recipes.

Grapefruit, hum… where do I begin?

I was never a fan of grapefruit because of its bitter flavor. But after doing a little research and remembering my husband saying “Don’t knock it before you try it!” or something like that, 😀 I gave them a try. Blending grapefruit with sweet ingredients and wa-la, just like that the bitterness is gone and you are left with a delightful sweet juice.

Grapefruit Cranberry Ingredients

Day Twenty Four: Grapefruit Cranberry Lime

2  Grapefruit

3  Oranges

2  Lime

3 cups dried Cranberries

2 thumb sized Ginger

CYMERA_20130921_140703

Wash all ingredients thoroughly.

Peel grapefruit, oranges, and lime, leaving as much of its pith as possible.
The pith is high in fiber and contains the highest amount of valuable flavonoids and other anti-cancer agents.
Remove seeds.
Gradually load your blender with each ingredient.
If using a blender, place blender onto your base and pulse or use whole fruit setting until fully blended.
Blend Away.
CYMERA_20130921_140351
Pause. Load your blender with dried cranberries.
Blend again.

Pour yourself a glass…
CYMERA_20130921_140832
or three and enjoy, your taste buds will thank you!

This is my all time favorite drink!

The ingredients blend so well, leaving you with a sweet flavor with a hint of lime. And to think I didn’t care much for grapefruit, good thing I listened to my hubby and gave them a try.

Have a blessed and juicy day!

Ginger Shot

Happy Thirsty Thursday Juicers!

I introduce the Ginger Shot also known as The Healthy Espresso. Every morning I make sure to start my day with a Ginger Shot. This is the first nutrition that enters my system and does a magnificent job awakening my senses.

Before I began juicing, I remember watching an infomercial with my sister and hearing the gentlemen on TV talking about The Healthy Espresso which included an apple and ginger, and talking about its benefits.  Well I never gave it much thought, until one day it came to me and I decided to give it a try. Need-less to say, it’s a little shot with a very big impact giving your senses a total wake up call.

Juicy Ingredients:

1/2 Apple

3cm Piece Fresh Ginger

CYMERA_20131008_234750

Here are five of the many health benefits of adding Ginger to your diet:

  1. Cancer prevention- Ginger has a high level of antioxidants, making it an excellent defender against cell damage and associated disease caused by free radicals.
  2. Alleviates nausea and vomiting.
  3. It has anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger is as effective as ibuprofen in relieving menstrual pain.
  4. Helps decrease bacterial infection in the stomach and battle a bad cough and throat irritation.
  5. Ginger helps improve the immune system.

Have a blessed and juicy day!

Happy Thirsty Thursday Juicers!

Let’s welcome Autumn and Pumpkins! I love pumpkin EVERYTHING: pie, soup, seeds, juice, smoothies and milkshakes. I especially LOVE sipping on a hot Pumpkin Spice Latte on a chilly day. And now you can too from the comfort of your own home. I  am thrilled to share this skinny recipe with you.

Start by brewing your favorite coffee. I used Folgers Classic Roast Medium.

In a microwave safe measuring cup or glass add 1/2 cup soy milk

CYMERA_20130927_091752

1 tablespoon of Pumpkin Spice Puree

CYMERA_20130927_091919

1 teaspoon packed Light Brown Sugar

light brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice. (I don’t have a 1/4 measuring stick so I used a 1/2 stick, that’s why it’s halfway full)

pumpkin pie spice

1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract

vanilla extract

Whisk all the ingredients together. Place in microwave for 1 to 2 minutes.

Make sure to keep an eye or two on it so it doesn’t overflow and spill… like my first batch.  I was saying farewell to my husband who was off to work, when I took a peek in the microwave I was bummed to see my Pumpkin Milk all over the glass. Bummer! On a good note, it make my house smell so yummy, like Pumpkin!!

Pour the Pumpkin Milk into your favorite mug or a transparent glass if you’d like to see the beautiful mixture.

Serve and enjoy this delicious and very festive Skinny Pumpkin Spice Latte.

I lightened up this recipe by using soy milk, light and fat-free ingredients. If you would like more of a rich taste use whole milk, regular half and half, and regular whipped cream.

Which ever way you decide to make your Pumpkin Spice Latte, I am sure it will be deliciously tasty.

This is my favorite hot fall drink, what’s your favorite?

Hope you have a blessed and Pumpkiny day!

Red Bell Pepper Cucumber Celery

Hello Juicers,

What a lovely morning it’s been here in Los Angeles, California. Hope you are all having a wonderful morning. I’ve had a very productive one, made my little one carrots and sweet potatoes puree and then this delicious drink. Love all the greens I used and how the red bell pepper stands out.

 Lets get this drink started!

Day Twenty-One: Red Bell Pepper Cucumber Celery

day21juiceitupmarly

1 apple
2 cups organic arugula & spinach mix
5 celery stalks
1 red bell pepper
1 cucumber
2 cups water
juice of 1/2 lime

day21blenderingredientsWash all ingredients thoroughly.

Cut bell pepper, remove the stem, you can leave the seeds.

Gradually load your blender with each ingredient,
except the lime, we will be stirring it in at the end.
If using a blender, place blender onto your base and pulse or use whole fruit setting until fully blended.

-1 My Ninja was full with all the ingredients,
leaving no room for the arugula and spinach mix.

-2

so i blended all the ingredients that fit
and then added the arugula and spinach.

-5

I garnished my drink with a piece of lime and
then indulged in the refreshing taste it offered.
The celery stalks gave it most of it’s flavor, if you would like more of the bell pepper flavor I would recommend adding 2 to 3 celery stalks, instead of five. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you enjoy it.

Have a blessed and juicy day!

Green Pineapple Blend

When I was pregnant, cucumbers were the only thing I ever craved. I remember eating them every night with lime and chili powder. I even got my husband hooked and when we ran out, he would drive to the grocery store and get us more. They are just that yummy!

marinated-cucumber-salad-12

Cucumbers are very refreshing and make for a great healthy snack. They also have great health benefits. Here are 3 wonderful benefits:

Keeps you hydrated.

If you are too busy to drink enough water, munch on the cool cucumber, which is 96 percent water. It will cheerfully compensate!

Fights heat, both inside and out.

Eat cucumber, and your body gets relief from heartburn. Apply cucumber on your skin, and you get relief from sunburn.

Flushes out toxins.

All that water in cucumber acts as a virtual broom, sweeping waste products out of your system. With regular use, cucumber is known to dissolve kidney stones. Wow, wish I know this information when I was passing my Kidney Stones! But you can be sure I’ve been keeping my fridge stocked with cucumbers and enjoy snacking on them throughout the day.

Wala! Here we have our Sweet Bulb juice.
I must admit this was my first time using the Fennel Bulb as an ingredient.
At first I was a little resistant to use this veggie because of the strong black licorice smell. I told my self “Self, make the juice, give it a little taste and if you don’t like it, well let it be the last time you use it.”
I am so glad I listened to my self and juiced with this ingredient! Once blended and strained, I gave it a try and my taste buds went wild because of the sweet taste it offered.
Tomorrow I will be making apple and fennel bulb puree for my little guy! Hope he enjoys this veggie as much as I do.
Have a blessed and juicy day!

Here I used a nut/ milk bag to remove the pulp
from the carrots, apples, and ginger
get-attachment-1.aspx
Then I added 3 hands full spinach and chopped kale.
The reason I added the spinach and kale after straining the juice is because
I enjoy chewing on the textured chopped spinach and kale.
get-attachment-3.aspx
And here is our drink with the blended spinach and kale.
As you can see the spinach and kale changed the color of
our juice from orange to textured green. Yum!
get-attachment-4.aspx
Like I’ve said before, my husband is not a fan of the thick texture in our juice.
I removed the spinach and kale pulp from his drink.
This made for a delicious and quick snack.
You can eat this with wheat thing (my fav snack)
or add your favorite dressing on this and enjoy.
